1 Samuel 5-6

This week, we explore the profound concept of the "aseity" of God—His absolute independence and self-existence. Drawing from 1 Samuel 5-6, we examine the period when the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines. While it appeared that God had been defeated, the narrative reveals that God is never dependent on human strength. Through His victory over the idol Dagon and His authority over plagues and nature, we see a display of divine power that demands reverence. This sermon challenges us to shift our trust from our own plans to the sovereign, holy King who accomplishes His purposes with or without us.
