News From Markayankottai

VisitorsIn July a group of believers from Thiruvarur in Northern Tamil Nadu visited Markayankottai. The Thiruvarur church has around 300 members who have been praying for a long time for the work in Markayankottai. They conducted a women's meeting which was very well attended. As well as bringing the word of God to the people of the village and surrounding area the visitors were a real encouragement to the believers in Markayankottai.

Over four days at the beginning of March, meetings were held in Markayankottai and many people attended; more than we would ever have expected. People came not just from our own village but also from some of the towns close by.

By God’s grace, we were also able to provide food for all the people and give shelter to those who lived far away.

At the meetings an Indian evangelist named P. Pappu preached the gospel and testified about the work of the Lord Jesus in his own life. People were amazed at what they heard and some of the families that had already been attending our regular meetings have expressed their desire to renounce their former ways and become part of God’s family. Even the believers found the talks beneficial.

Pappu and Rajan also visited many homes. One woman who had never shown any interest in the things of God has now said that she will try her best to come along to our meetings every Sunday. Another married couple are asking to be baptised.

In all, over the four days, 15 people have professed salvation. As well as that, the meetings have encouraged many more who have not previously attended to come along to our regular meetings.

We give thanks to God for these miracles of His grace.
