Update — November 2011
Things at Pachacutec are progressing well. On Sunday evening we had 60 children in along with a good number of teenagers and the regular adults — we really lacked space. Betty, one of the ladies who is attending, is really growing in her Christian experience and we are really encouraged. She has one little girl, Nohelia who is 7. Nohelia is exceptionally bright and we are in the process of arranging that either the Los Olivos or Jean Calvin school sponsor her next year. One of our goals is that some of the children from Pachacutec could be sponsored to study at these schools. Conversations we have had with the schools to date have been encouraging and hopefully Nohelia will be the first of many.
Our 4th anniversary celebrations take place on the 12th and 13th of November. On the Saturday the teenagers and children will participate in a special eveningto which their parents will be invited. We have formed a children´s choir with the help of Kevin, a young lad from Jasmines who is studying music at university. The children will also particpate in a play about Zacheus and perform some other musical items. A musical group of young folk from Jamines will also take part in the evening. On Sunday we will have some musical items, preaching and a nice supper. Please pray for the success of these events.
A Week in Pachacutec — August 2011
The last week has been busy. On Friday we had a work day in Pacha to mend a leaky roof and to extend part of the roof as water was coming into the church — one Sunday morning we found the church was flooded with water. Four of the Jazmines men gave Edwar a hand on Tuesday and then on Thursday three of the young folk plus two from Pacha helped Edwar finish off.
On Saturday we showed Narnia 3 for children and teenagers. The Los Olivos church lent us their projector so we were able to project the film on a sheet. It was a real treat for the kids and 62 came along. Since the schools are on holiday for two weeks for Independence Day holidays some of the kids have travelled to visit family etc but we had a great night. Edwar gave a short message at the end explaining some of the signifigance of the film.
This week will not be any more quiet. Tomorrow Wednesday our 7-12 year old kids have an exam on the book of Daniel. Some folk have promised to donate illustrated Bibles as prizes for the younger ones and youth bibles for the older winners. Then on Saturday we have a young people´s dinner. Around 20 plus young folk will attend and each has promised to invite two friends - so we are expecting 60 plus. The young folk want to do the cooking — we are not sure how that will turn out! A friend donated some money and we have been able to buy a nice cooker for the church and the young folk´s work. Now they will be able to make buns and biscuits to sell and make a small but much needed income for themselves. Edwar asked the Jazmines church to give an offering towards the dinner so that has covered the cost.
Some of our older kids and teenagers are asking about baptism. We will be having a chat with them in the next few weeks. Also the adults are becoming a lot more consistent in their attendance. The Lord is evidently working in lives but we are being careful not to push things. Everything in its proper time.
August 2010
Still Growing

Today three men from Jazmines went to Pachacutec with Edwar to help put a roof on and finish off a new Sunday School rooms. The kids keep coming and we don’t know where to put them. On Wednesdays at our Bible Study we can now have up to 50 kids and the two Sunday School rooms are too small to hold them.
Next Friday I have invited about 10 of the moms of the kids who are now coming out to church to our home for a tea and short Bible Study. I thought asking them to the house would help break the ice a bit as they don’t all know one another. Hopefully we will have a few games, a good feed and a time of fellowship in the word. Please pray that we would have a really nice time together and that the ladies would be motivated to meet up every fortnight for a time of fellowship.
On Saturday our club Tabita meets again. It is made up of around 25 girls aged 6 to 12. We are teaching them some crafts, cookery etc and this Saturday they will be making a cuddly toy with the help of Silvia one of the ladies from the Olivos congregation. Also on the 14th we are having a sports day along with the Sinai and Las Lomas congregations.
How To Get A New School — Pacha Style
Some of our parents burned down part of one of the local schools! It was on the TV. The mayor promised them a new school building three years ago and nothing happened so they took the teachers hostage (with their permission) for a few hours and had a bit of a bonfire. The local government has now relocated the kids to another school for the moment and building has begun.
In closing we want to thank those who have prayed for us and faithfully supported us. You are a vital part of the work in Pachacutec and we know that the Lord will richly bless you for your faithfulness.
