Sing A Song Of Zion

"By the rivers of Babylon,
There we sat down, yea, we wept
When we remembered Zion...
Those who plundered us requested mirth,
Saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"
How shall we sing the LORD’S song In a foreign land? "

Psalm 137

When Babylon — the epitome of a pagan society — besieged Jerusalem, Daniel was taken captive and forced to make his home in its very heart. There he lived and remained faithful to God for a lifetime. It is still possible to be a faithful servant of God in a world that has little time for Him or His people; Daniel can show us how.

A Peep Behind The Curtain

In this series of Studies on the Epistle to the Ephesians we join the apostle Paul in taking "A Peep Behind The Curtain" as he looks into the amazing unseen world of spiritual reality.

A Peep Behind The Curtain

Life Sucks

These sermons explore some of life's most difficult questions with Solomon, writer of Ecclesiastes and the wisest man who ever lived. Questions like, What is the purpose of life? Why does so much bad stuff happen? What is the secret of happiness?

Standards To Live By

Standards To Live By

The fast decline we are seeing in moral standards is a cause for concern but of greater concern is the lowering of standards within the church. Today's Christians tolerate and do things they would not have done ten years ago, let alone fifty and that shift is causing serious problems. Would that it were as easy as calling God's people back to holy living. The difficulty with that is that God's people are confused about what holy living is. In these sermons our pastor, Dr Stephen McAuley, sets out to clear up some of the confusion by taking a fresh look at the standards God sets in His word for His people.

Things My Big Brother Showed Me

Things My Big Brother Showed Me

In his epistle James gives good, practical advice on how to live and grow as a Christian in the kind of situations you face every day. We cannot be certain that it was written by James the brother of Jesus — though it seems plausible — but what we do know is that whoever wrote the letter was writing about things he learned from the Lord Jesus. This is not take it or leave it advice. This letter is about how Jesus lived and about how He wants you to live.

The Unknown God

The Unknown God

God's word tells us that "the people who know their God will be strong and do exploits." But what does it mean to know God? In these sermons Dr Stephen McAuley presents, in everyday language, some of the key facts God has revealed about Himself. He will encourage you to get to know God better and, hopefully,  get you thinking about the difference it ought to make when you do. This is theology, but not as you know it.

Family Responsibilities

Family Responsibilities

The moment you were born again you acquired brothers and sisters. Now you are part of the family and that means that as well as privileges you have family responsibilities. God's Word spells out those responsibilities in detail. These sermons will help you meet them in a way that is practical and possible even in today's busy world where it can be hard to find time for people.

These Are The Days of Elijah

These Are The Days Of Elijah

The days of Elijah were like our own days in many ways. In these sermons some of the hard lessons Elijah learned are applied to situations we are facing today. You will learn a lot about facing hardship, overcoming discouragement, dealing with opposition and remaining faithful to God and His word.

Baptism

Why Do We Baptise Them?

Baptism seems like a strange thing to do. In this sermon Dr Stephen McAuley explains why we baptise new believers and what it means when we do.

When Christians Are Depressed

When Christians Are Depressed

Depression is a common condition and Christians have no exemption from it. But Christians do have resources that others do not have to help them through. In this sermon Dr Stephen McAuley looks at Psalm 42. Psalm 42 was written by a man of strong faith who was depressed. It describes what he experienced and tells us how he faced it.
